THIS IS YOUR HISTORIC MOMENT!
THIS IS SPARTA!
In 2023, for the very first time, the legend of the Tour de France, the world’s most prestigious cycling race, met the mythic spirit of Greece amid the enchanting landscapes of Western Greece, in Ancient Olympia. More than 600 amateur and professional cyclists from around the world rode through mountain routes and sacred forests, experiencing the emotional intensity of a Tour de France stage in the birthplace of the Olympic Games.
In 2024, L’Étape Greece by Tour de France, presented by SKODA, returned with even greater momentum. Over 1,000 cyclists took part, affirming the event’s place as one of Greece’s most iconic sports tourism experiences. Built with the same world-class attention to detail as the French L’Étape du Tour, the event delivered the full thrill of professional cycling—on closed roads through stunning landscapes, under Tour de France conditions.
Then, in 2025, the challenge returned once more to Ancient Olympia. Riders took on the historic climbs and winding forest trails around one of the world’s most sacred archaeological sites. In a route that honored both nature and heritage, participants immersed themselves in a one-of-a-kind cycling adventure—connecting the glory of the past with the endurance of today.
In 2026, the journey evolves. L’Étape Greece relocates to one of the most legendary cities in world history: Sparta. A name synonymous with courage, discipline, and strength, Sparta offers the ideal setting for what promises to be the most demanding—and rewarding—edition yet.
Now, in 2026, L’Étape Greece sets its sights on a bold new destination: Sparta. One of the most legendary cities in ancient history, Sparta is a land of warriors, discipline, and timeless strength. On April, 2026, the myth of Leonidas will meet the legend of the Tour de France, in what promises to be the most demanding and awe-inspiring edition to date.
Set against the rugged backdrop of Mount Taygetus, and passing through olive groves, historic paths, and stone-built villages, the 2026 course will challenge riders with greater elevation, sharper climbs, and unforgettable views. Designed for cyclists who seek not only to ride—but to conquer—the road ahead, L’Étape Greece 2026 will be more than a race. It will be a journey into the soul of endurance.
From the Ancient Acropolis of Sparta and the Sanctuary of Orthia Artemis, to the imposing castle town of Mystras, the majestic castle of Geraki, the Eurotas River in Skala, the stately Gythio and Mani, all the way to the natural passes of Taygetus — every part of the route turns each pedal stroke into an act of honor and endurance.
Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a passionate amateur ready to test your limits, this is your chance to ride where history was forged in fire and stone.
Join us in Sparta, April 4, 2026. The legend continues—stronger, tougher, and more epic than ever.
